The Rift


Initially forming in 2003 as Aces High the band consisted of two sets of brothers. The band has performed at venues throughout the greater Los Angeles area, won two local awards, and is on the upswing. Aces High debuted in 2007 with a self titled album released independently with the help of Seedless Records.

Several of the bands songs had some major chart success on internet charting sites, most notably based out of Australia. The song “Shades of Grey” stayed number 1 on the power pop chart for thirteen weeks straight.

The band also had notable mentions on MI2N. The band shared the stage with acts like “The Misfits, Exodus, Yngwei Malmsteen, and Wildchild”. In the winter of 2007, Aces High was recognized at the Rock City News “Rocky’s Awards” held at B.B. Kings at Universal City Walk. The band won as Best Alternative band. Then in 2008, the band won at the Ventura County Mavric Awards as Best Live Performance. The band has played countless shows throughout the Ventura County and greater Los Angeles Area at venues such as; Rock City Studio’s, The Ventura Theater, The Joint, The 14 Below, The Whiskey A GOGO, The Knitting Factory, The Air Conditioned and many more.

In the fall of 2008, the band recorded with well renowned producer Geza X at Satellite park studios in Malibu who has worked with artists such as (Meredith Brooks, The Dead Kennedy’s, Black Flag, The Scorpions and many more). To promote the single “Kill For You”, a music video was made by Producer’s Dawn and Marie Cobalt. The music video was shot at the brother’s parents house in Thousand Oaks. Literally in one weekend, the house went from being living space to a full on production studio. The music video was done in one weekend. The music video won official selections at the 2010’s “SENE” film music and art festival, the World Music festival (an independent festival) , the  London Independent Film Festival, the international film and script awards, was the winner at the 2010 Honolulu film festival of the Aloha Accolade Award, official selection at the Peachtree Village International film festival, official selection at the Action on Film international film festival, the official selection at the indie gathering, LA Shorts Fest, and Shock Horror Fest.

The band reformed with a new sound and direction in late 2010 as The Rift. The current line up of the band is John Anagnos (drums/manager), Aris Anagnos (Lead/rhythm Guitar & lead vocals), Tyler Holsclaw (lead/rhythm guitar and backing vocals), Matt Melamed (Bass, backing vocals), and Tesh Hatharasinghe (Lead Guitar, vocals). The band is moving forward with the potential possibility of working with producer David Julson Rieley and is looking forward to being on music pump unsigned.
